Over the past couple of months, I have started to develop an affinity for color-shifting film stocks. Harman Red captured my heart with its deep tones, making its images feel heavy.

I decided then and there that red-scale is best suited for urban areas. However, I began to wonder what may be best for a place with more green in it. Eventually, I had found that my local photo store carried Lomochrome Turquoise, a film stock promising yellow skies and, well, turquoise vegetation. I grabbed a roll, and gave it a go. The box suggests to shoot at anywhere between 100 – 400 ISO. Obeying the box gives what you’d expect, green gone turquoise. Below was shot at 400 ISO.

However, If I push it 1 stop…

The slight over-exposure pushed the turquoise tone to its max! The brighter leaves also makes room for a greater texture on the foliage, creating a denser image. It could be that this stock could take the crown for greenery, however there are still other color-shifting stocks that change green into something else… for now, I’ll be keeping this stock in my back pocket while I continue my search to find the best color shift for the great outdoors.
